Catology Membership Guide

Mission Statement

Catology Cats improves the lives of cats by educating and connecting breeders, professionals, and cat lovers through an engaging, community-driven experience.

The Three Pillars of Catology Cats

Catology Cats is built on three pillars that guide every decision, every role, and every aspect of the event: Education, Community, and Experience. Together, they define what makes Catology different.

Education

Education is at the core of Catology Cats. We create opportunities for breeders, exhibitors, and the public to learn, grow, and make informed decisions. Every element of the event—from structured programming to informal conversations—is designed to increase knowledge and improve the lives of cats.

Community

Catology Cats brings people together. We create an environment where individuals feel welcomed, valued, and connected—regardless of experience level or background. Through collaboration, respect, and shared purpose, we strengthen relationships within the cat fancy and beyond.

Experience

A cat show should be more than functional—it should be memorable. Catology Cats is designed to provide a thoughtful, well-run, and engaging experience for exhibitors, vendors, and spectators. Every detail, from layout to programming, is intentional, creating an event people look forward to each year.

Core Values

Integrity
We speak honestly, act transparently, and take responsibility for our words and actions. We address challenges directly and constructively—avoiding gossip, judgment, or drama.

Unconditional Positive Regard
We approach others with curiosity, kindness, and the benefit of the doubt. We assume positive intent from others and seek to understand before we critique.

Community Spirit
We create an uplifting, inclusive environment where education and enjoyment go hand-in-hand. Whether this is your first cat show or your fiftieth, you belong here.

Club Overview

Catology Cats was created to offer something different—an organization that is clear, intentional, and inclusive, built on the pillars of education, community, and experience. Our goal is to create a high-quality, education-driven show while fostering an environment where people feel confident, supported, and engaged.

Clarity and transparency guide how we operate. Roles are defined, expectations are communicated, and responsibilities are understood, allowing members to contribute with confidence. When people know what they are committing to, they show up stronger and have a better experience.

We value the full range of our members’ talents. Our volunteers are educators, creatives, planners, and professionals, and we create opportunities for meaningful contribution—not just physical support.

Catology Cats is structured to support this approach. Officers lead and make decisions, allowing members to focus on their roles without ambiguity. Membership is not about voting or dues, but about contributing time, energy, and expertise to create an organized and memorable event.

For those who align with this vision, Catology Cats offers a place to contribute with purpose—where it is easy to say yes, and just as important, easy to say no with confidence.

Becoming A Member

Members of Catology Cats are volunteers who take on defined roles to support the annual event. This section outlines how roles are assigned, what is expected, and how members contribute.

Membership Overview

In Catology Cats, a member is anyone who contributes time, talent, or energy to support the event. We do not charge dues. Membership is based on participation and a shared commitment to the show's success.

Members are essential to the club’s success and to the environment we create.

Member Benefits

Members who actively participate receive:

  • Early Bird Pricing: Access to early-bird registration pricing on show entries through the closing date.
  • Priority Access: Priority access to opportunities such as breed booth opportunities, speaking opportunities, and the Honors class entries.
  • Recognition: Recognition at the event and in communications, along with a Catology membership lapel pin.

Membership Expectations

  • Role Commitment: Members apply for and commit to a role for the annual show, typically held during the third weekend of February. Roles are assigned by officers based on event needs and qualifications.
  • Active Participation: Members actively participate in their role. This may include pre-show meetings and required presence during scheduled responsibilities.
  • Reliability: Members fulfill their assigned responsibilities. If circumstances change, communication is expected as early as possible.
